What is Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) & how does it work?
MLD is a therapy which is intended to encourage the natural drainage of the lymph, which carries metabolic waste products away from the tissues back to the heart.
This is achieved through rhythmical movements of the skin which stimulates the contraction of the lymphatic vessels. The aim is to remove excess fluid and metabolic waste from the body's tissue.
Lymph is the fluid that passes through pathways into lymphnodes, where it is cleansed of bacteria, dead cells, poison and other waste products. The clean lymph can then return to the blood stream.
